Help Hero Users?

its all good, much better than the Hero,also my bluetooth in my Mercedes works again thanks to 2.2.

My wife currently has an Evo, and it looking to downgrade but keep android of course...her choices are the HTC Hero, or the LG optimus....I know of my Evo I have tried most if not all of the sense roms....and I keep going back to CM 6.1 stable. But if I was able to root the HTC Hero would it be equal to or better than the optimus?

I have to disagree with you. My hero which was modded to hell (oc'd @ 768 w/ JIT etc on CM6 2.2 w/ BrainFuct Kernel) didnt do anything to the stock optimus. I had some of the highest benchmarks on my phone compared to all the other users over at XDA. While the Hero had a great CPU the I/O is too slow which makes the phone lag at certain times. The Optimus kicks its butt in every way even before I oc'd it to 806 mhz. But after that it kills the Hero badly.

Hero; Linkpack 5.2, Quadrant 509, Neocore like 15 fps or something around there.

Optimus S; Linkpack 9.5, Quadrant 1353, Neocore 54.3 fps

Also, My service quality (Signal) has gone up tramendously. I was always around 89-92 dbm with the hero droping calls. Now I hang around 84-87 dbm with the Optimus (Lower is better if you didnt know). Both of these in the same parts of my house.

Plus the battery last way longer on the Optimus S.

I noticed as well when you set the mhz to 245/480 or so the phone doesnt have a lag compared to the Hero at 652/768. Which really saves battery on the O.

Thanks for this post and this thread. I have a Hero running in the exact configuration (CM6 + JIT) and have been on the fence about the Optimus S. My brother has an Evo which I love for the speed, but not the size or monthly price tag. Looks like I'll be upgrading to the Optimus S!

moved from the hero to the optimus around Christmas time and haven't looked back.

I am so happy with the Optimus, was with the Hero and hated the damn phone. Had to root like so many others did. With this phone I think I'll keep it as is, works great and I love it. As mentioned b4 no notifivation lite for missed call etc. I d/l a app called Noled and thet fixed the problem.

Hey all quick question, I switched my wife from the Hero to the Optimus S and there is one thing I don't know if I like. I think it's the fact that the Optimus S is generic Android where the Hero is sense based. When you go into contacts on the sense based rom the very first one on the list is "My Contact Card" I liked this because when it syncs with Facebook it downloads your profile pic and other info.

I see no way for the generic android to do this as there is no "My contact card"

How are you all dealing with this?
