Help hero vs moment?

Not a big Samsung fan here. I did stop and consider it for a moment, the 800mhz processor wasn't enough to sway me.

It's running basic Android so you only get 3 home screens.

I'm sticking with my plans to pick up the Hero Friday morning. The HTC Sense UI makes up for the smaller processor. Just my opinion.

I used to have a Touch Pro with Touch Flo 3D and it was exciting at first but then the wow factor wears off very quickly. Ive had 3 different HTC devices and Im sick of its sluggish video playback web browsing. Ill pass on the hero. Qualcomm makes crappy processors end of story. Just my opinion.
 
I'm sticking with my plans to get the Sprint Hero on Friday for the following reasons:

1. The Hero is does not have a physical keyboard - I like all touch phones.
2. The Hero is more than a basic Goggle phone - it can handle my Exchange account without the expense of a 3rd part mail app.
3. The Hero has the Sense UI and it does everything I need it to do out of the box - I don't put custom roms on my phones.

Assuming by "proximity sensor" they meant "digital compass"
No Light sensor like Hero
16M colors versus 65k
optical joystick versus track ball

I'm sticking with my plans for the Hero based on this.

Hmm, then they don't mention that it has a digital compass. For the Hero they did mention it in the same type of spec sheet. So.. does that mean it doesn't have one? If it doesn't that's very bad.

Honestly I can answer that. I would say if they haven't mentioned it, it probably doesn't exist.
 
My biggest concern with deciding on an android phone has been the small app install mem size. afaik the app2sd hacks only work with hacked phones. how are people dealing with such a small amount of space to install their apps?

my guess is that the new motorola phones on verizon are going to have much larger space for install.

does the moment have any advantage over the hero in this regard?
 
The biggest concern I would have with the Moment would be upgrade support from Samsung.

Im under the impression that Samsung has decided not to do OTA updates for the Galaxy. Im pretty sure I read that here, so if Im wrong, please, someone correct me.

So, if they arent doing OTA updates for the Galaxy, will that be a trend that Samsung starts? To just put out phones and wash their hands of them after they are sold? This would certainly be the ONE thing that would prevent me from buying the Moment.

Everything else is trival. Homescreens can be replaced. 3.2MP camera? Good enough when I dont have my real digital camera around. Everything thing else tops the Hero hands down. Of course I prefer the trackpad and the QWERTY, others might not.

So until I hear something that says they will, the Moment is off the table for me.

They've already stated they won't be doing OTA updates on the Moment. Scorch posted a thread about both Moment & Hero not coming with 1.6. There's a link in that post to read. It seems HTC is considering not doing the OTA either.
 
HTC is still on the fence with the OTA update although they stated they were leaning toward a PC update.

EDaze I swear I remember reading that we would get the update upon release and activation that it would be OTA

Sprint ADP

This was the forum that stated as much. Though reading it again Sprint says.

HTC Hero will ship with 1.5 but we will work on plans to support 1.6 when available from HTC for the Hero

That's not where I read. I'm trying to find, although I guess the point is moot. We get 1.5 and HTC is on the fence about OTA updates.

You basically listed the Sensue UI three times there. What is the big deal with this thing anyways? I don't think I'll mind using Android the way Google thought it should be made.

What about the Behold 2? These are the three phones I can't decide between right now. I personally might be going with the moment for the keyboard.

I honestly don't really know what I want. I definitely want Android but I'm finding it impossible to decide between these three phones (Hero - 10/11, Moment - 11/1, Behold 2 - 11/late). I currently have a 4 year old phone so I'm not used to having to make a decision between a keyboard or touchscreen. The i7500, or Behold 2, has been my choice for the last couple of months but the later release plus the fact that it might actually have a smaller battery than the Galaxy worries me. It's a difficult decision :/
 
Yugami here is what's steering me away from the Moment. Samsung is not known for supporting their devices very long if at all. They're pretty much into cranking out new phones and forgetting about their last release.

HTC on the other hand whether it's a WinMo or Hero Device they're always working to improve the user experience. If they update the OS or other feature for a new release they pretty much release it for all the previous phone also.
 
Another good example of this is the Peep app (Twitter) HTC has for Sense. It was causing all sorts of problems, HTC regularly reported back with updates (tweets) that they were working hard to fix the problem and when it was finally resolved they let everyone know that too.

I like when people stand behind what they put out.

The UI itself give Android much needed polish in my opinion. While I could use a stock droid, I would prefer a skin, more homescreens, and an overall better look.

Samsung is only building the phone, and to me, its like they dont even care at this point if the users get updates. I would be like buying a car, and trying to get the dealship to do regular maintaince on it and having them say they wont be doing that.
