Is there an update for 2.2 im buying a used phone i guess its stock. Would there be an update in System update? Also can i get it to 2.3? Thanks Joe

No, 2.1 is the most up to date firmware for the Hero. 2.2 and 2.3 are only available as custom ROMs.

Yes, you can get both 2.2 and 2.3, and overclock, but all of those things require you to root the phone.
