Hero's Pre-loaded with Sprint MR Update?

Can anyone confirm or deny whether or not the MR update is coming pre-loaded on the new Hero's? Like if you bought you're Hero in the last few weeks and whether or not you had to do the MR update after you got it?

Thanks,
nic

I got mine about a week ago. I did not have to do an update. Someone I work with got his about 10 days before me and his already had the update as well.

I got mine for christmas and I had to do a firmware update on it to receive it. Can't vouch for the time of purchase though. Though, it was sometime in December.

Sorry to hijack, just wondering why you're asking...
So when new hero users come to the forums asking questions about problems the MR fixed I don't have to tell them to do so everytime.

Also curiousity of sprints quality control on the updates... etc.

sounds good, I was just wondering if it impacted me at all.

you always provide good advice, so if this is ammo I hope you get it!

so what is the MR update anyways, is this anything to do what the 4G they are advertising? what about the 2.1 update any word
My Hero arrived on Dec 18th with the update already installed.

The update was mostly bug fixes, especially for battery performance and 2 new options on the phone screen that let you (during a call) mute or enable the speakerphone. Nothing at all to do with WiMax support (4G)... There are no phones available for sale (yet) that support WiMax but they are coming, hopefully in Q1'10.

As to Android 2.1, Sprint has announced 1H'10, although many of us are hoping for Feb/March latest...

The Hero will never have 4G, that would require a hardware update. Physically impossible from a software update.

From the "All programs" menu, select "Device Self Service" (mine is version 1.1) and then select "Update Firmware". It will check for any updates, and will then tell you if there are any available. If not, then you're up to date.

You can also do this in "Settings"--->"About phone"--->"System updates".

Or if you know what you're looking for, just go to "Settings"--->"About phone" & check your software version.
