Root Hesitant To Root For First Time

I read a guide to root this phone without using a computer and it all seems pretty simple, but I've been hearing a lot people experiencing bootloops by rooting and such. Main reason I'm rooting is to get 2.3 and fix the multi touch issue. Messing up my phone is not a option. So is there any advice for a first time rooter?

It was my first time rooting too. I used this app called z4root ([APP] z4root - xda-developers), which is pretty harmless because it doesn't touch the disk besides the root records. The app itself uses an exploit in v2.2 to gain root. If you have 2.2.1, then you'll need to downgrade it to 2.2 - which won't take more than 15mins.

But really, since it's your first time, I suggest that you do some research/googling first. Make sure you are reading the one about your model

K, thanks. I researched and I'm confident that I can root, but I still on the edge that if I make one mistake my phone can get bricked
