Hey Guys, New Here :)

Right its two completely different networks and while verizon builds several phones capable of both att does not, HOWEVER the Captivate is unlock-able to be used on other GSM carriers around the world just not CDMA carriers because well that would be taking a step backward in techno and they arent going to do that. Honestly verizon needs to hurry up and catch up with the rest of the world.

Theres no real reason for verizon to upgrade to gsm do they ? they are the number one service provider in the US , until something else happens i dont think they will change. Especially if they will get the iphone like everybody is predicting at end of this year

their version of the iphone will come slotted for a sim card. but be subsidized for cdma radio until the conversion is completed.

They have no choice but to make the switch at some point. The technology of cdma is dead. The lease on it has been long past and the renewal of it has been extended and extended and extended was supposed to be completely gone by 2003 I think it was. however due to cost it didnt happen and more renewals. Its billions to change the towers etc however its a must for them.
