Hi All

I'm just coming from a BB and giving the Android experience a try with a Samsung Charge. I can't say that I'm sold yet finding it more difficult to do simple things such as selecting a contact and making a call. That's likely because I'm not yet typing very well on the virtual keyboard. I'm staying optimistic though and am looking forward to using it once I've climbed the learning curve. I know I'll be spending time here searching for app recommendations and suggestions for improving my usage of the device. This looks like a great site and I'm pleased that I found it.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

If the virtual keyboard installed on your Charge isn't to your liking, or is difficult for you to use, there are several alternative keyboard apps available in the Android Market that may suit your needs better.

Welcome to the AndroidForums, BoatPerson!

I have a Droid X and although the screen is pretty big, I still am not best as typing on it in portrait mode, so I rotate the phone to landscape mode pretty often and that seems to work pretty well.

Also, I was pretty happy with the stock keyboard on Froyo, but they changed it a little bit in GingerBread and they keys seem a little smaller to me. So, I'm trying-out the Swype keyboard (not swiping, though) and the keys seem a lot bigger.

You'll find something you like and are comfortable with, I'm sure.

Cheers!

I appreciate both of your responses and will definitely search for alternate keyboard solutions. I have to admit that I wasn't all that great at using the BB Bold keyboard either and I'm determined to achieve a higher level of function with my new Droid.
