Hey everybody,
I am the proud owner of an HTC Desire that I've had for about a year now. Up to this point, I've been running the Telus-branded HTC Sense version of Android that came with the phone (plus an OTA upgrade)... not rooted or anything.
I'm a long-time Linux user (long time as in since the mid-1990's) and a strong believer that having freedom and control over your devices (as well as software and data) matters and has important long-term consequences.
I've recently started to look at rooting my phone, mostly due to a recurring issue of running low on internal phone storage, but also because I like the idea of scrubbing away the carrier's branding and cruft software to make the phone truly mine.
So now I'm reading up and learning lots about custom recovery, RUUs and goldcards, how to choose a ROM to suit my needs, etc.
I'll see you in the Android Lounge!
Cheers!
