Hi and i think i am correct but i am looking for backup

I have bought a Hero thats locked to 3Uk i will be getting this unlocked then if i install the latest roms from HTC this will remove all the " 3" stuff and make it a stock phone ?
As i will be using it on O2 UK

Flashing a new rom will take away all the Three branding but your phone will still be locked to Three.

You need to use an unlock code which means parting with some money.
