Hi Everyone!!

DrumViper

Lurker
Greetings all,
I'm an old school Palm user who wishes it was as easy as the before time to customize a phone's OS!!

I've had my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy 4G for a while now, and I'm having issues related to Bloatware!!!

I searched Google for ways to uninstall this Bloatware and this seemed a good place to start learning the How and Whys of the Android apps that are locked up tight and seemingly uninstallable.

I need ROOM!! The phone is slowing down considerably due to it being close to full up. I really tired of spending hundreds of dollars to upgrade way sooner than it seems I should have to.

Hopefully my phone issues will be something I can correct as I'd like make an upgrade something I can put off for a while!!!

Nice to be here!

Welcome to the forums DrumViper, glad to have you here :)

Let me see if i can try and assist you with your issue today!

You might want to look into rooting your device to get rid of bloatware, you can find more information here: http://androidforums.com/faqs/443432-what-root-being-rooted-mean.html

Otherwise find your device here on our phones list: Android Phones - Android Forums

Hope this helps and thanks for joining :D

WOW!!! That was FAST!!!

I'll check those links, and YES, I believe rooting this Bloatware machine is JUST what it needs!!!

Thanks for the rapid start!!

Well, I'm rooted, but I don't know HOW to get the Bloatware out of my phone,
nor do I know what stuff NOT to remove!!!

Any quick ideas while I search around for appropriate threads??

Welcome to AF! Hope you enjoy your stay here.

My suggestion is to grab titanium backup from the market, any bloat ware you intend to remove, back it up first before you delete.

What I do though is freeze instead of delete (disable from the system)

Hey dragonslayer,

I'm actually OUT of room in internal storage, so much so that the updates for some apps don't have enough room to install, and I keep getting the popup message telling me I'm out of room as well. Seems I have the smaller of the GS4G's internal memory??

I did install Titanium Backup, and I've backed up and uninstalled a few things successfully already!
The updates that WOULDN'T install due to insufficient room finally have, which is great!!

EDIT:
Seems the internal memory is only 514mb, and even after all of my deleting it's using 432mb, so it's STILL a tad congested in there!!!

I've had the gs4g at one point and I don't remember it being that low, I think mine internal storage was around 1gig don't quote me though.

What you could do to free up memory, go into settings, apps, running and see what's hogging memory and if what's hogging it isn't a need (download able app or a pointless system app) back it up with titanium and uninstall.

Facebook is using up TONS of space and resources, but I use it a lot so I'll deal with it slowing stuff down if that's the way it works.

I LIKE a few of the apps that keep running even though I don't activate them. The TeleNav GPS for instance, I stop it and in SECONDS it's running. But I don 't want to delete it as it's a GREAT backup GPS for when I'm traveling to drumming gigs.

How to close apps, and KEEP them closed until I open them!!!!
