Help Hide SMS app

I have tried a couple apps to hide texts from certain people when they come in. I have tried private space and audio manager, both of them worked great until i updated to kitkat. Basically what is happening is that the message is getting hidden but it is also showing up in the stock messaging app as well. Its not getting hidden! Does anyone know why this happened? Moreover, does anyone know an app like this that will work with kitkat?
 
If you use Handcent as your main messaging app & turn off the notifications in the stock messaging app you won't get double notifications & you can set up specific contacts in a "privacy list" & establish notification settings specific to the contacts on that list. You can opt to just get notified with no message preview, no notifications at all, etc.
 
gosms has a privacy section.

its can hide notifications for messages that you select from contacts. or display a different notification icon.
