Hiding scratches?

porcelain

Newbie
Let me start by saying I have never used a screen protector. But my dog (a Shih-Tzu at that!) jumped on my phone, putting a tiny scratch in the middle of the screen. It isn't that noticeable unless the screen is on and it's very apparent.

Would a screen protector mask a scratch like that?

They generally aren't used to mask scratches, but rather prevent them.

Im not sure how well putting one on would hide it. I guess it depends on the protector and scratch

Oh, I know! But I read some stuff online where people said the screen protectors minimized the appearance on the scratches.

This particular scratch is visible when the screen is on because it's deeper than just on the surface. So, I was hoping a screen protector would minimize the appearance of it since it's pretty annoying.

My wife got a decent one on her old Droid Razr. It was deep enough were you could easily feel it with a fingernail and it could be seen with the naked eye with the phone on/off.

A screen protector made it so you could BARELY see (only if you looked at the right angle in the right lighting). You couldn't feel it after the screen protector.

I had a tiny hairline scratch probably from a single grain of sand on my S3. When I put a screen protector on it the scratch completely disappeared. So from my experience a protector can definitely help mask small scratches.
