Help High data consumption by Android OS when GPS is ON

Lurker
Hi.
I have a problem with high data consumption by Andriod OS. I've read many forums, but the problem still lasts. In few days Android OS takes 200MB.
I have backup turned off, sync I have turned on only to contacts. No apps from googleplay can' help, because I can't disable internet acces to Android OS(not rooted phone Samsung Galaxy S Duos). I'm sure that is not problem of youtube, g+, picassa ... I can see how other apps download data.
200MB of data downloaded/uploaded by Android OS are from backgroud.
But I found when Android OS consumes data - it's only when I have turned on some apps, which use GPS. In my phone it's sygic gps navigation or Ingress game. This apps have their own data counts, so it's not the situation, that data transfer by ingress/sygic are count to Andriod OS. Sygic has also own data count in app, and it download only KBs.
After using ingress/sygic for 15 minutes Android OS use 10-15 MB of datas.
So the question is, what is this a strange behavior, and how to avoid?
Thx. for any ideas how to solve it. I'm not able to solve this for 3 months so please help me with this issue. Thx.

I am not too sure about your specific device, but for me, I have to make sure that I have gotten a really good current location GPS lock in Google Maps or another navigation program, and then I keep my actual GPS off unless I need it. If I don't do that, my android OS runs very high on data. Basically it just means that the phone is constantly trying to connect and get a good GPS lock.
One suggestion would be to rely on one GPS navigation program, Google Maps is built in, so you don't have multiple programs always trying to locate your phone. Also, when the data gets high, I would go to Settings.. Apps.. And then find my GPS program and clear the data and/or cache and then go into the Google Maps and get myself a good gps lock. For my phone, once the gps initial lock is done, of the 3 location finding settings, I turn off the one that navigation uses. Until I need navigation, then I turn it on only when I use the turn by turn nav.
Good luck, and please keep us updated!
