Help High Google Services Battery Drain

I just dont get why it acts the same over different versions of android.
It's a pitfall. When you install one OS on multiple architectures, you're going to have some devices not take it well. This ditches ease for versatility.

Apple on the other hand, reverses this anomaly by releasing different software for the same hardware, and while this promotes stability, it hinders choice, especially since Apple is in control of its hardware market.

These are the driving factors as to why Android devices are cheaper than Android, but app developers find it simpler to work with IPA files than APKs.

I didn't believe it at first but I understand now why Iphones cost more: stability.

By the way this is the new record of battery drain by Google services:

After having deactivated Google Services, uninstalled WhatsApp and stopped to receive news apps' push notifications, there are no battery drain caused by Google Services and Whatsapp obviously. But now, "Cell Standy" (I don't what it is) supposedly drains the battery. At %70 battery left of the phone, it drains %17 for now. "Device Idle" at %1. Is this wrong or normal??

When you're not using your device, switch it to Flight mode. Your phone constantly pings for reception if you don't.

You don't have to uninstall apps to disable their push notifiers. Most apps have an option of their own.

If you don't see that option, you can do two things:

Hold the notification and select the [emoji349] icon.
Go into the app's info page and uncheck "show notifications".

Just in case: EU-de

Turn on Airplane mode and then turn on Wifi. If thats what you mean. It will stop your cellular radio from searching for signal.

OK. But my cellular radio signal is good. Almost always maximum bars. I don't know why it is searching for signal. I'm recharging the phone now. We'll see if anything changes afterwards.

I wouldn't prefer switch to Flight Mode when I'm not using the device because it means I will not be getting any phone calls or messages when I'm not using and this is not acceptable for me. I want this junk to perform most basic phone things at least if nothing as it is designed to do.

It seems turning on airplane mode did the trick because I haven't see cell standby in the battery statictics for over six hours. Of course this is with no Google Play Services, no Play Store, no Whatsapp. I'll deal with them later after fixing this one first.

Is there a fix though? I've been googling it for hours but couldn't find anything useful. I would like to turn on cellular radio all the time as I want to able to receive calls all the time and not lose excessive battery power as before (before I mean this phone used to last almost four days)

that's natural for any device. Airplane mode simply tells the device there's nothing to find.

Only temporarily. I'm not saying you should use this all the time, just when you're sure you won't get reception. As I said in an earlier example, I turn my device to Flight mode overnight as I don't expect to use it.

But I'm using it now. To compose this reply.

Try this app. Takes a little getting used to. Not sure about Cellular service though.
If you are rooted and have plentiful free time, you can try to use Tasker.
Good lucko_O
The first app looks good. I think it basically allows you to turn on or off mobile data or Wi-Fi for the specific app. I'll try it soon.

Gotcha.:) I can do this before I go to sleep but I would like airplane mode turn itself off automatically before 6.00 AM for example because I may get calls or messages at that time. Is there a task app to do so? Android itself can do this task to Wi-Fi but not to mobile data. Tasker app Bg260 suggested requires root which I don't have on my phone right now. I would like to have non-root app solution.

By the way, I don't want to miss any news apps' push notifications. Lets say I did not get any push notifications because I closed all internet connections. Will I be able to get the notifications altogether after turning internet connection on (Wi-Fi or mobile data)?

The only way to have an application toggle Mobile Data automatically is with root.
I see... Unfortunately, there is a chance that I RMA this phone if replacing the battery with another battery won't help. I don't want them to see SuperSu access so root access has to wait. Strangely enough, I am not seeing Google Services battery drain now but it is not long since I reactivate it again. I'm not holding my breath to be honest but we'll see.:p

I am not seeing Google services in the battery statistic anymore, not even %1. It seems the problem is solved but as a caution, I would say "for now". Because I am not sure how it solved lol. I didn't switch GPS on. Sync is on for G-mail, Google fit data and app data. Maybe it has to do with 360 Security app. There is a feature in this app that allows to shut down apps after 1 min (after the screen is closed). I haven't see any side effects yet.

As for cell standby, I am not getting excessive battery drain too. Not like before. I never switched to airplane mode and it used %7 of the battery in almost two days time. Still kinda weird doing this because it says "Time without a signal %0". I must also add that I almost never switched mobile data on. Almost always used Wi-Fi.

Also today I ordered a new battery in hope for solving the phone's overheating problem. Curious how it'll go. I hope I am not throwing my money for nothing.

I opened mobile data for about ten minutes and from nowhere Google services showed up again in the battery statistics that it drained %2 of the battery. Why?..............

Tasker can permit this. However, there's a more native approach.

If your ROM uses System Profiles, set up preset modes that turn off WiFi, Bluetooth, souns & GPS by creating a custom profile. Create one that also turns these functions on and attach it to your alarms by setting a preset per alarm.

You could use the sleep preset for 11 PM & a wake preset alongside your wakeup alarm.

Alarms can be set with or without sound or vibration so if you don't want the night alarm to sound then uncheck snooze so it times out.

Tasker requires root permission which the phone does not have right now unfortunately.

I don't think my ROM has System Profiles as it is a stock Samsung ROM. But I can look into it if you can tell me where to look.

By the way, I think there is some serious bug related to Google Services or directly Android itself or Samsung.
Today I open mobile data at %8 battery left. Google services was at %3 before I open it.
Then I look to built-in battery statistic. Within 30 mins doing nothing, it shows SUPPOSEDLY that Google services' usage rise up to %11 from %3! But the left battery life was at still %8!!! What the hell??

I don't trust the built-in battery statistic anymore, it is useless as ********.
Could you give some recommendations on good battery monitor app?

It's not a bug! It's Google! When you have exhausted all other options, let me know. We'll talk about Root.

This is what you wrote:

This is what I hear:
Google is wrecking my phone! It makes me really angry! I'm not willing to do anything about it, though.:(

"Not a bug" is correct. This is an inevitable as an Android user.

What I do suggest is you begin turning apps off that you don't use but can't uninstall because they're embedded.

Go to System Settings > Application Manager and tap on an app. Look for "Disable" or "Uninstall Updates" (which would make "disable" visible).

Don't utilize Facebook. Please. It's q resource hog. Also, if you're running 5.1.1 or newer, AppOps is now available to you. Look for "Modify" near the permissions list in each entry in Application Manager. There you can restrict what your app accesses.

Careful though. You might break something. Don't disable what's needed for an app's livelihood, like GPS on maps or camera for camera.

"insert 'root my phone once - it was horrible' meme"

I already root this phone once, you know. It did not help and it void warranty.

I am not saying root will be still useless for Google services thing but this problem is not my top priority right now. As I said earlier, I'm thinking to send my phone to Samsung for repair. Knox is already tripped but I don't want them to see root is still present.

And it is kinda harsh to say to me that "you're not willing to do anything about it" since I tried almost all other options in my earlier problem, this includes root.

I don't know it is a bug or something else but it is clear that the built-in battery statistic reports wrong.
See the difference between GSam Battery Monitor and the built-in battery statistic:

I already went through there, disabling embedded Google apps I don't need.

I don't have Facebook installed as an app. I'm using UC Browser with Facebook notifications enabled.

AppOps requires root, so..............

Not really. I did say Android 5.1.1 allows for it without root. Check System Settings > Privacy > " Guard and then tap the overflow icon and press "Advanced". Typing Privucy Guard actually turns it into asterisks.
