Hockey fans unite!!! {the All Things Hockey Thread}

In the past 3 years, the team that eliminated the Vancouver Canucks became the Stanley Cup Champions. I'm calling the Sharks to win the Stanley Cup this year.

Apparently the wild are doing good this year?

Theyre all the rage around here. Cant say i follow them at all though.

I used to play and enjoy hockey, I'm just way out of the loop now

well they made it to the playoffs, but they are facing chicago blackhawks who have the best record in hockey. the wild are down 3-1 in the series, so it is not looking to good for them this year. they did good in getting two key acquisitions in ryan suter and zach parise to help them get into the playoffs. however, they did kind of fizzle out a bit in the last week of the regular season to secure the 8th spot.

Lets go pens!!!!!

Red Wings!!!!!!!!!!!!
Epic, huge win and ducks are eliminated! So sweet
Now it's for Blackhawkes to be shown who's the boss)))
Coming soon :

Pens vs Senators
This one will be very tough for Pens. Their defense is awful.

yeah i was watching wings/ducks game. i hate the ducks, but was kind of silently rooting for them so that we can have a freeway series with them. while at the same time, i really wanted them to loose because i hate them. plus, this way we play the sharks instead and have home ice advantage.

so i guess it was win-win for me:D

GO KINGS GO!!!!

Normally, I would root for the Ducks so to guarantee more games that start in the Pacific time zone, but this year, I've been just so disinterested in the NHL playoffs. I didn't even watch any of the games from my team. There are just so many other things I would rather do with my time.

yeah but you're from vancouver.....isn't hockey a religion there?:D

I'm more into playing hockey rather than watching it. I find that when watching hockey on TV, I get so upset at the camera angles. You can't see the entire play. You never see how break outs and plays develop because there is so much going on away from the puck. I prefer to watch it live as I can see the entire ice. It's awesome to see the plays develop 100 feet away from the puck. I would watch live, but I am unwilling to tithe 10% of my income to do so. Tickets are so expensive here. It is probably cheaper to fly to California or Arizona and watch a game there than it is to watch a game in Vancouver. The cheapest seats are $100. Then you get gouged for parking.

As a spectator I've always been more of a Canadian football fan than a hockey fan. I've been watching our team, the BC Lions, since I was a kid. Also, I find that football is way more television friendly than hockey. Although there is a lot going on, there is always something going on where the ball is. In hockey, there is much more that I want to see away from the puck. Also, in football there are always breaks in between plays (when not in hurry-up) to watch important plays away from the ball on replays.

Anyway, last night's Leafs-Bruins game started getting me back into the playoffs. I was watching it as my wife had it on. That was a wild third period. It was the most amazing third period I have ever seen. Also, I have never personally watched a game where a team was down 2 goals with 2 minutes left, pulled their goalie and scored 2 goals to tie it up and send it into OT. I've seen 2-goal (and 3-goal) comebacks, but not with the goalie pulled for both goals.

yeah that was a great game that i missed.

i think that the next round of the playoffs have some great matchups. the bruins/ranger matchup should be intense; i'm not to sure about the penguins/senators game; hawks/wings should be interesting; and the kings/sharks should be a tight goaltending series and should be fun.

so i would say it is rangers/penguins and kings/hawks for the conference finals. and finally pengiuns/kings for the stanley cup:D

What the hell was that today from the Kings?!?! 2 goals in some twenty seconds at the end of the third - incredible! (regardless of the 5-on-3 thing). Another gret comeback - that's what I like about play-offs.

P.S. A very hard first game for the Wings. Keep beleiving. Go Wings Go!

OMG!!!!!!!!

my voice is so hoarse from screaming on that final goal. i mean that was just plain crazy!!!!!!!

though we won, i feel that we just got lucky. we played horrible in the second period and then started plying better in the third. hopefully we can play a good solid three periods up in san jose.....i'm a little worried about going up there:o

i'm rooting for the wings as well. i do not want to play the hawks the next round....LOL
