Root Home and Search Button Fault?

Did you gold it before or after partitioning? If you made it gold THEN partitioned it , it is no lomger gold.

No, I used a different SD card from my actual current SD card. It had files on there, so I backed them up, removed them from the card, made it a GoldCard, THEN put the files back on. I didn't partition it.

It gave me the, "ERROR [140]: BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR

The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone.

Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again." error again... What's it mean?

Means the bootloader in the RUU is older than what you have. Ah crap you flashed Vodafone previously didn't you? Easiest way now is to.use that

Okay, I'll go get it from "Shipped ROM's". I've been meaning to ask, when I put the ROM back on there, if the buttons work again, does it mean I have to stay with the FroYo ROM?

Thanks. Back to my other question, when I put the ROM back on there, if the buttons work again, does it mean I have to stick with the FroYo ROM?

It all depends on why you wanted to root in the first place! Was it due to storage space? The ability to have the latest software? Whichever, if it wasn't either of these then if I were you, I would stick with stock if everything works, as you seem to have had many problems when it comes to rooting. Otherwise reroot and try again.

I originally rooted for more space, then *AFTER* understanding the whole custom ROM thing, that was another reason. But besides those two reasons, I had no other intention of rooting. So if I re-root, then I can start flashing custom ROM's again?

Yes you can, but if the space was your primary reason, you will have to create a ext partition on your SD card to get the most of what most roms offer, but I would run the ruu first and use your phone for a few days just to check the button fault doesn't return, if not re root and enjoy.

Okay, I'll do that. Thanks for your advice, I *REALLY* do appreciate it.

Also, the ROM with the highest numbers seems to be a zip file, so it's not an RUU... Does that make a difference?

Have you had a look at what's inside the zip file? From what I have read it should be a executive file, and you simply plug your phone into the PC and double click the executive file. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone on here will put you right, I've never used an ruu myself so I'm not as clued up as some. And I believe there is another way of running the ruu, but lets see how you get on with this first.

There are loads of files in there, but none of them have the icon that all the other previous RUU's which I've used in the past had on them.

Are any a executive file? Other than that I can't help you I'm sorry. You will have to see if anyone else has any input.

Which one I had before? I got the one with the highest numbers and it doesn't have the program all the others had for the RUU, it's a zip file. I even extracted all the files... Nothing. If it helps, here's the name of it, "OTA_Bravo_Froyo_Vodafone_TR_2.31.184.3_R-1.30.184.3_releaseljkows6myi2o89c6".

Oh, wait, I just realized the link you gave me was to an actual ROM... I thought it was a link to the site. I'll try that one and get back to you after I've done it. Thanks.
