Help Home button stopped working and menu options gone

Hi

My home button seems to have stopped working. If i'm in an app it won't return me to the home screen or bring up the tap and talk screen. Also if i hold down the power key i don't get the list of options to go into flight mode etc but just "power down" . This just happened today?! Any ideas or help would be appreciated thanks.

Pattern lock seems to be enabled but doesn't work either!

I've performed a soft and hard reset and no joy.

I spoke to Samsung support today and they advised me to try a factory reset, I will try this once i've downloaded all my pics etc from phone and report back with results.

phone has miraculously healed itself. weird!?
