Help Home screen lag

I've not noticed this. Maybe there are loads of apps in the Task Manager? Try closing apps; hold the home button for a second or two...

Thanks but tried this :( It's just really annoying as when pressing home button it goes back to blank wallpaper and icons reappear one by one.

Now if most S3 users post that theirs are fine and instantly appear in fear my phone maybe faulty..

I haven't a lot of applications on phone yet as I'm new to android and I've disabled svoice.

I had this with touchwiz. Gone to Nova launcher, not had a hone screen re-draw since. I think touchwiz is just laggy!

I'm experiencing this as well after browsing. Already set Transmission and Windows animation scale to 0.5x. But it's still there sometimes.

This is not a problem at all for me. I just tried to see if I could get my home screen to lag with 8 windows open in the browser at the same time. Smooth as butter. I changed the settings in developer options as mentioned and there seemed to be no difference. The one guy that has his icons showing up one at a time needs to take the phone back. Perhaps a factory reset is also in order.

I have always had this same issue with my Galaxy Note running stock GB.

Backing out of browser (when possible) solves the issue.

It's touchwiz. all Android users should be using a third party launcher as they are much better than the default ones. I have a spectrum and this phone sucks with the default launcher but always runs smooth with a decent third party launcher.

Guys I'm on the verge of sending phone back because of the lag after browsing, can some of you check your phone and tell me if after browsing or playing games does it take ages for icons and weather application to reappear?

I have one homescreen with Shazam widget, assitive light widget, alarm widget, and two weather.com widgets. I opened Chrome, went to a site and then backed out, no lag, no reloading of widgets.

Well that's a pisser. Sure it's real easy to tell someone to use a launcher but what about all the people buying the phone because they like TW and it's features? This could be a deal breaker.

What features does TW have? I'm on a Droid X waiting for my SGS3, so I really don't know.

So you guys with nova and go don't experience redraws ever? Or only sometimes?

I've never experienced it in Nova. I installed Nova on day 1 and never even gave touchwiz a chance, so I've never seen this issue before. I'm really glad to see so many folks are fans of Nova as well.

For those of you with this issue, try out the free version of Nova and report back if it's still persistent:

Nova Launcher

Lol I probably sound like an iwhore but I'm not. I am open minded. I just don't want a laggy phone. I purchased my whole family sg3s..... Anyways please tell me of your experience from your iPhone to the new SG3.

still waiting for my GSIII from att but right now i have a sprint GSII and to me that old GSII still beats me sons 4s hands down. so i can only assume at this point that GSIII will even be better.

So did we determine this problem is down to touchwiz and we need to Root the phone and use something else? I've only had my phone two weeks and already seeing the lag so keen to sort it out.

You don't need to root your phone to use third party launchers.

So if you install Nova, the default launcher of the S3 will be replaced/overwritten?
