Root Home Screen Mild Problem

So I know that the original Motorola Droid isn't exactly packin in the RAM department. I'm currently running the latest Cyanogenmod for my phone (7.02), but this problem has existed on just about every ROM I use. I use Launcher Pro Plus instead of the stock Android home screen, but since I started messing with ROMS, I have to wait for my home screen to re-load probably 90% of the time when I hit the home button. Theres about a 5-10 second pause before I can use anything on the screen.

I know that Android's just freeing up the memory, but its driving me crazy.

I've downloaded Auto Memory Manager for root and tried adjusting the settings so that this wouldn't happen, but I can't find what area applies to Launcherpro. The areas it allows are:

Foreground Application
Visible Application
Secondary Server
Hidden Application
Content Provider
Empty Application

Does anyone have any ideas?

Take a look at the Performance options in the Cyanogen Settings menu and see if there is am option to "Lock Home in Memory" I think thats where they put it. If not hopefully someone that is more familur with CM can chime in. The option might also be in LPP settings.

Yes, there is that method, but I _think_ there may be a better method especially since you have installed auto memory manager. For me it's really hard to say which is best, but here's what I did and seemed to be pretty nice (though I use ADW, the end result should be the same).

Deselect the option previously posted. Open auto memeory manager and go to advanced and enter these values: 6, 8, 24, 26, 28, 30 and hit 'apply'. Then there's the happy local.prop edit that I have made easy in an 'update.zip' style file you can apply using your favorite custom recovery with the proper method applicable to said custom recovery. You can find it in my 'file' link in my sig. It should be called "ReDrawFixGB_update.zip"

good luck
