Hello Im new to the forum and to smartphones. I've recently upgraded to a Galaxy s2 when I switched it on there was stuff on my homepage like the time the weather and a google search box. They have disappeared - how do i get them back any advice would be appreciated.

These are both widgets. To add them, long press on your desktop. a "Add to Home" should appear. Then go in "Widgets". Then
- Click on "AccuWeather.com" to add the standard weather widget
- Click on "Google Search" to add the search widget.

Hope it was useful :).

Just be careful. That weather widget is a battery drainer.
Actually, is there a better (free) weather widget for this phone? I come from a HTC phone, and I must say I am disappointed with the widgets coming from Samsung Touchwiz compared to those from HTC Sense.
The Samsung weather widget doesn't even update itself according to its settings! Plus, as you say, is a battery drainer (compared to the one from HTC Sense) and possibly a data drain as well (still have to test that one).

Even more important than price or nice (for me currently :)): what about the battery and data usage?
(@bigwig: sorry to hijack your thread, but it looked like it was solved anyway ;))

Fancy widgets is the best weather one I've found. It's the only one that actually names my town rather than one miles away or just saying London. Can also stop it from updating during the night.

battery drain hasnt been an issue for me with the accuweather widget, nor have i heard of beautiful widgets drain battery. set the auto sync to every 3 hours, or more, if u want.. and its fine. wat does drain ur battery is the AP mobile widget, and it also uses a lot of data, so make sure u monitor it, especially if u use 3G a lot
