Root homescreen app pages dissapearing?

ok so ive been having a problem with my cappy, although only recently it seems. ive not flashed any ROMS since getting the phone about a month ago, and all ive done is root it.

im not sure whats causing it, but it seems at random times when i open an app or a menu, and finish what im doing, and hit the home button, sometimes all my apps on the homescreen app pages will be gone. i can still swipe to change between all the pages, so its not freezing. but all the other pages are blank as well. i can see nothing but the dock icons, and the wallpaper. usually after 30-60 seconds, they will reappear and all is well again. but sometimes i have to hit the power button to turn off the screen and turn it back on for them to reappear. not sure exactly how to re-create this, but it seems to do it alot when i exit the facebook app and also the stock messaging app, and sometimes when exiting the settings menu.

once again, its only been rooted, no custom roms, nothing else extra i dont think. also, im on stock froyo 2.2. any help would be appreciated

thanks in advance :p

Are you using any kind of task manager or auto killer? It sounds like the reaction you get when you close all programs with a task manager, just maybe a longer time to respond.

umm the only thing i can think of that would have any kind of auto killer/task manager feature would be Juice Defender. but as far as i can tell, i have the settings/mode for that on Default. which (i think) only optimizes battery usage.?

but feel free to correct me if im wrong, of course

You're running out of RAM, so your launcher is unloading from memory. The delay is waiting for it to re-load and redraw your home screens. The reason this is often happening after leaving the Facebook app is due to what a memory hog it is (about 20+ MB on my phone).

The solution is to do some inventory of what's running on your phone (both background apps and services, which are separate), check their memory use, and uninstall any that you don't actually need. You'd be surprised how many apps run in the background or install a service even though they have no need or business to do so. Collectively these chip away at your total free memory and cause performance issues as stuff needs to be unloaded/reloaded/etc. StartupCleaner can be helpful but you'll find most apps that are guilty just go ahead and reload after killing anyway so it's not much use. You just need to send the author an angry email, then uninstall and find an alternative.

ok yeah thats prolly my problem then. ill make a search through and find out, thank you very much. i didnt think i had really that many apps installed as it is, but still possibly a few that are running may be pulling all the weight of the RAM alone
