Help Homescreen tab missing?

This may be a stupid question (my apologies in advance) I've had my Verizon Note 2 only a short time, but the little tab on the left of the homescreen is now missing. Idk what to even call it to search for it to get it back. Can anyone help please? Thanks

I'd like to report myself for being stupid LOL
My apologies to the wonderful folks on thus forum. I found the answer to my question in these wonderful forums.
Press and hold the back button to make it appear and disappear.
Again sorry for being such a noob
