Help Homescreen Tiles Issue

grosvenor

Lurker
I have a Sony Ericsson Arc, I have been playing around with it and downloading games and stuff.

Just now it started to not allow me to use most of the tiles on the two right hand home screens.

I really don't want to have to reset my phone!

Anyone got any suggestions???

Cheers

Dan

You mean you can't click/drag them?

Try rebooting the phone, if that doesn't work delete the widget and add it again.

No, I mean, I go to drag an app on to the home screen but it just greys out the spaces not allowing me to place them.

And on an empty home screen I try to open a widget and it says there is no space available!?

I have this problem as well.

4 (out of 5) of my home screens have two or more icon positions that are unable to be used for single position icons or part of a multi-position icon or widget. Non-functional positions seem to occur on the same grid row.

It doesn't matter whether you have one, many or zero widgets on the home screens and the problem occurred out of the box, before I had downloaded any apps. A settings reset didn't rectify the issue either.

It's possible that rooting the phone may help but I'd prefer to keep the warranty on the phone for just a little longer.
Any help/cure for this problem would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Tim

I had the phone crash and reboot and then I noticed two widgets had disappeared, except they hadn't.

Unlike some launchers, there was no 'error loading widget' text in their place.

What's more, when wondering why I couldn't replace them, I noticed that they were still there but totally invisible - so I selected them and dragged them to trash. From then on, I could place things in their place.

The SE launcher does seem very quick to reload itself, and revert to the default app layout in the menu. I prefer A-Z, so how hard is it for the app to remember your settings?!
