Root (hopefully) quick q about unrooting

Sky win, I'm going to remove root to get sky go working...

I've found the right original version on

shippedroms /download.php?category=android&model=Bravo&file=RUU_Bravo_Froyo_Vodafone_UK_2.33.161.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157522_signed.exe

But I think I may have upgraded a whole bunch of stuff when I rooted, all the radio stuff. My bootloader is 0.93. that may have upgraded?

so question is, does it matter? do I have to downgrade first? (i don't think I can downgrade?)
thanks for any help!

The bootloader won't have been upgraded unless you used alpharev or revolutionary to S-Off (and unless you did that a long time ago that would have a different number). So I think you'll be OK. There are downgrade tricks, but I don't think you'll need them.

That package will undo anything else you've done, and will also wipe the phone, so back up anything of importance before running it (and remember that you won't be able to run Titanium Backup once unrooted, so don't rely on that for your backup).

If you have any problems with that RUU, you can always use the official HTC Gingerbread upgrade. That's also an RUU, so will unroot the phone, but can be run on any network's handset.

Good stuff, thanks for the helpful reply! I still have s-on, I think that's why voodoo ota rootkeeper won't let me run a temp unroot.

I didn't realise gingerbread would work on Vodafone handset. As I'm just unrooting for an app I'll probably just jump straight to that. Oh wait.. Does gingerbread have a crippled HTC sense for desire?

I know nothing about voodoo, I'm afraid.

S-Off using revolutionary is reported as being really easy (I did it using alpharev before revolutionary came out, so can't speak from experience). There's a guide linked from the "all about rooting" sticky post. Remember that if you are rooted already you don't need to do the rooting part of that guide, and don't want them to change your recovery either - just S-Off is enough. Note that the current alpharev hboots will survive an RUU (you have to flash a special "downgrader" hboot if you want an RUU to really return the phone to stock), so if you were to S-Off and later run an RUU you would still be S-Off afterwards.

And yes, HTC Gingerbread has HTC Sense (the same version that came originally with the Desire). What ROM are you currently using?

I came completely clueless about rooting and s-offing and s-off was reasonably easy for me
