Root Horrible battery life with Fresh 3.1???

Is anybody else noticing a huge decline in battery life after going from 1.0.1 to 3.1.01??? Saw another post that blamed it on the new FB app (which did seem to drain dramatically), so I uninstalled it and still doesn't improve battery life all that much. I don't have active sync on or anything, so I assume it's either the ROM or Froyo?? :confused:

fyi: I am running the stock kernel with fresh 3.1.01 rom.
 
Did you sign out of gtalk and make sure the service is off?

1. Press Menu then tap All apps > Talk > Menu > More > Settings
2. Uncheck the automatically sign in box.
3. Make sure you exit the application by going to Menu > More > and selecting Sign Out

Then go to Settings > Applications > Running Services and kill it.
 
this goes for anytime you wipe and install a new rom. even may happen with out a wipe.

your battery stats will get cleared and you will need to recalibrate the battery. it will eventually learn on its own, but you can try to speed this process up a little.

I may not have the best way but this is what I do. let the battery drain until the phone shuts off. charge it while it is off. then turn it on and charge some more, now back off and charge some more. you may need to do this a couple of times. but basically you need to completely use your battery and charge it back up until it knows how full it needs to be.

I am still cycling mine, but the battery will drop a good 10-15% within a minute or 2 of unplugging. today it only dropped 6% in that time. I should be back to normal in another day or so.

Cycling doesn't do anything - its a bug in the phone whereby once the battery is full, it starts running on battery.
 
My battery life with fresh is about 12-15 hrs and with cm its about 15-20, and i am running g talk

yes, this has been this way with the phone since release. what you are talking about is when the phone is just left plugged in. which is why you unplug it and cycle it. this method has been posted a few times and it was even a tip from htc.
 
Actually, cycling the battery does improve the longevity. Batteries have a memory to them. What cycling does (letting the battery drain all the way down, then charging to full- then repeat the process a few times) What this does is allow the battery to get the maximum charge and not "roughly". The battery will get a memory of full charge and when its dead. This will also extend the life of the battery in the long run.

But wow, I didnt know that about the google talk program running and signed in. Signed off and followed those instructions. lets see :)

mine isnt so great

i get about 10 hours

but i leave 4G on constantly because i get good reception and love the speed (pulling 6mbs down)

and i have an extended battery..............

You get 10 hours out of an extended battery? Are you kidding?

What exactly do you do on your phone? Maybe you should get a laptop.

How many mAh is your extended battery cause 10 hours on extended is not good
