Help Horrible lag Epic

I got a new Samsung Epic this week. In less than 24 hrs I had to return it due to poor reception. The problem is now I have adequate reception but when scrolling through the homes there is a horrible lag. Is there a setting that I am not seeing or should I return this phone as well (note the first phone had no lag)?
 
It is always lagging on this phone but not the previous one. My scores were: First test PI 752 GI 2680/ second test PI 705 GI 2291/ (I had Angry birds running) with no programs running First test PI 651 GI 1975.
Is it normal to be getting worse?
 
Those are great scores in comparison to what I've seen with other stock android epics. What is on yourhomescreens? Widgets?
 
The same widgets that I had on the other phone. But I did take them (all widgets) off with the same results. Samsung weather clock and Cubed music player and buddies Now are my only widgets. I also tried taking out my sd card to no avail.
 
actually i have adw launcher ex and launcher pro. using both of these i experience a lag myself. i even went threw and uninstalled many things i downloaded at the android market and i still dont see a difference. i didn't have lag until i seen the android market update. it sucks.
 
for those with the lag issues, have you tried a hard reset? after the hard reset, don't install anything, no widget, no new home launcher, etc. is it still lagging? before installing new app or widget, check all your synch settings. now, take it one widget or app at a time. hopefully, that will help pin point the culprit.
