Help Horrible reception.

Let me just preface a few things if I may. I am new to this forum, but have been lurking for awhile. I love it! You guys are awesome. I got my GNex in February of 2012 and I simply love the phone. The hardware is absolutely top-notch. What do you expect from Samsung, right? I began having poor reception almost immediately. I'm talking one bar and sometimes complete drop-outs (no bars). I took it to my local Verizon store where I bought it and talked to an associate. They replaced the sim card and sent me on my merry way. Well, needless to say, the party didn't last long. Bad reception again. Could've been a bad card I was told and was given replacement number two. Same thing again, another card (third one). After it wasn't resolved, I called Verizon and arranged to have the phone itself replaced. It came in the mail, same problem. Flash forward to now: I'm on my third actual phone and fifth sim card. No resolution. Keep in mind, I am almost in the dead center of a 4G area. I've ran it in 3G and 4G with same results. I have upgraded the radios, no satisfaction. I am running 4.2.2 currently and it's the same. WHAT ON EARTH COULD IT BE!?!?!??? My dad said, half jokingly, maybe my brain is interfering with it! So yeah, that's where I'm at now.

You said you are "dead center of a 4G area". Does this mean you are referring to this being an issue at home?

Does your phone have issue other places?

Do other verizon phones have issues in the same place yours does?

The problem persists anywhere I go. Not just local to my home area. The odd thing is, my nephew has a phone under my account with Verizon and he has minimal problems with reception.

So, from your reporting it sounds like the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon simply doesn't work for you. It works for me on t-mobile in California, just not for you. Which sucks.

The only thing I can think of for you to try is a case. Perhaps there is something goofy going on and a case will minimize the interference. Just guessing really.

But, it does sound like your the Galaxy Nexus doesn't work for you (it is not phone specific, it is not specific to one location, etc.) If this is true, you may just have to move on. The S4 is out soon and Google IO in May will certainly announce one or more new phones.

If your Galaxy Nexus is in good condition they often fetch well over $200 on ebay still.

Well, I've used the phone with and without a case. But, I guess you're right on all other counts. Thanks for your replies. Sadly, I'm under contract until February of 2014.

Samsung hardware isn't as top notch as you thought eh? Im back to Motorola after this phone becausy reception is a joke too.

You may be under contract, but your phone is not. You can:

- Speak to Verizon and document the history of issues you have discussed with them. They may let you trade it in/exchange, etc. given how you have always had an issue. And the fact that they have always worked with you on it means they acknowledge that they are somewhat culpable.

- Find a new/used/refurbished verizon phone and swap it out for the Galaxy Nexus. Then sell the Galaxy Nexus. Perhaps the process will cost you nothing or very little.

Thanks for all of your replies. I appreciate it alot. You're right, they have always worked with me so they in a sense understand it is something at fault on their end of things. Sadly, I don't have any money to try to find a new phone. Besides, I love the phone itself hardware wise. I just don't understand such a problem as this. I will work things out somehow.
