Hot Pocket

Just replaced my commando, and find the replacement get really hot in my pocket due to a fast battery drain.
This has been happening over the past few days.

Is there a way to see what is draining the battery? An app maybe that can show what the heck is draining it so fast?

Does not happen every single day, but most days.

This thread has some info that might be useful:

Done all those things in that string. Seems to be a bit better after loading battery doctor. I was able to kill a few apps that were using the battery all the time.
I will let you know if it improves!!

This phone is definitely a hot-pocket device. Mine doesn't drain battery any more than it seems like it should, but it stays warmer longer in my pocket than any other device I've carried.

I have yet to root my device, which should add to the life of the battery by turning off the energy hogs.

My battery will last 6 hours of being barely used. I have a spare battery that came with my replacement, and it still does the battery drain dance.

I just have to spend the time and root the thing.

I will post once done!

Six hours? That is insane. Have you taken a look to see what is keeping your phone awake? I can stream music over cellular data for 8-10 hours a day and still hve 50% left at bedtime. This is not normal at all.

You shouldn't need to root to get good battery life...

I looked around and it shows that 50% is the Android OS. I have all the other settings either turned off or minimized.
I have GPS off too!

Is there a specific way to tell exactly what is grinding the bat down??

There are battery monitoring apps that let you analyze in detail where your battery juice is going.

I live in a metropolitan area and my battery easily lasts all day (a few calls, texts and maybe some music and camera use), however, recently I've been working about a half-hour out of town, in a much more rural area. My battery is dead before I leave the place unless I put it on the charger, and I can't get calls and barely get texts at this location.

So your problem might have to do with where you are and the phone attempting to search for a network all day.
