Help Hot Spot Out Anyone Else?

Earlier today I was having trouble getting the hot spot to connect. I was getting a screen with a revolving pinwheel but no screen to check on the hot spot. Later it started connecting again. Then later tonight I tried to disconnect the hot spot and it would not disconnect even by turning the phone off, I had to pull the battery. Now it wont connect at all in fact when you touch hot spot I cant even get the phone to give me the hot spot activation screen all I get is a click but the screen wont change into the activation screen so now I have no hot spot at all. I tried a master reset and no luck fixing it that way either. Someone at Android Central forum is also having the same exact issue.

I am having the same issue. Glad to know a master reset was useless before I wiped my phone. I called Verizon but they don't have any idea what the problem is.

I'm having the same problem here. I click on the mobile hotbot icon, and the screen just flicker and returns to the home screen. I turned the phone off and on without any luck. I did a.web search and it appearance that other users are having the same problem.
According to droidforums.net Verizon is unclear as to what the problem is, but a hard reset is not correcting the issue.

Me too. Came to this forum specifically to investigate the issue. Hope it gets fixed soon -- I'm counting on it for an upcoming trip...

My mobile hotspot doesn't work AT ALL!!! I click on the app and the screen flashes black for a split second and goes to my homescreen.

I click on it in Settings and nothing happens.
What is this? I'm not laughing.

Do you think they might have just shut it off because to many people were taking advantage of the freebie and now to save face they are saying its an outage?

No because these phones are not selling enough to cause problems like that. Maybe it's a software update issue

So the latest rumor is that Samsung programmed in June first as an automatic stop date for Verizon on the free hot spot deal. So as soon as it turned June second they all switched off but now Verizon can't figure out how to get it turned back on again.

If you want mobile hotspot?
then the answer is simple.
Go to settings and turn back time
by one month.
Instead of having June turn back to
May. That's it. Now u have
Mobil hotspot again.
Just don't tell the provider. :D

Official Tweet from Verizon:

"Samsung Charge users: The mobile hotspot is still being fixed. As a temporary workaround, change the date in settings to 5/31/11 & retry.*MS"

However putting the date back will screw up your GMail account and might make your other email accounts wonky but once you check automatic again everything will refresh and be OK again.

I was at VZW today, they said it was a full network problem with the hotspot functionality of the network, it was "elevated" in status for repair, whatever that means to VZW...

Well let's see how long that takes to get fixed. We should have as many free days of hotspot service past the cutoff date since may 31st up until whenever they fix it (if that makes any sense)

Once this is resolved im calling Verizon and im going to demand an extra month of service or at least a $30 credit for it.

Here's the latest from Verizon tech support regarding the Hot Spot issue. I spoke to a rep this morning. They know about the problem. They acknowledge the problem started on June 2nd. They won't take anymore tickets. Samsung has created a solution aka a software update called "MR2."

Verizon is now testing the software update behind the scenes. They anticipate having the software update available to customers by June 9th via OTA download.

The rep I spoke to would not commit to extending the free hotspot tethering, but I bet if enough people raised a stink they would extend it by at least a week (my speculation only).

Hopefully it is done by the end of this week as promised.

My wife and I each got the Samsung Charge last week and use the hotspot as our exclusive internet service. So this being out until the 9th is not acceptable. I called the Verizon store to see if we could exchange for the Droid X2 due to this outage and they said there would be the $35/phone restocking charge. I explained that they are not providing the service that we signed up for and therefore want to get a system that works. The guy was a complete jerk about it and siad they would not help out. So I think we all need to figure out how to get a class action suit against Verizon to force them to make this right, instead of treating us like we have no options but to accept their inaction on this.

You do realize that there is a temporary solution until the permanent fix is out, right?

I have a business account and requested a Droid charge (to replace my my rebooting Thunderbolt) and after I got it set up & tried the hotspot, that was the first defect noted - no Hot Spot! I called Verizon last Wed & the guy said you need a new phone. So today I just my second Droid Charge and the same issue... no Hot Spot. Like was mentioned in another reply, mine just flashed the screen, no other reaction. So, I will call later and found out what is going on. I went back to my first Droid Charge for now instead of doing the whole setup.

What's up with this:mad: HTC & Samsung can't get it right!

P. S. My Verizon Mobile Hotspot works fine! I'm using it now.
