Help Hotmail App - Question about unread messages notifications

chopper1

Newbie
Hi all, I'm fairly new to Android, so apologies if this is easy to fix. I've downloaded the official Hotmail app, and was wondering if there's a way to get the the new unread message notifications (in the top left corner of the screen) synchronized so that if I'm reading and deleting new messages on my PC, the notifications disappear on my phone:

Nope. Activesync with my work email doesn't either, not sure if that's a failing with activesync or with the phone, as the Hotmail app uses activesync too, but either way it's a bit annoying..

I actually dont use the hotmail app and just forward a copy to Gmail. You can set gmail to Send As your hotmail address so you dont need to tell anyone a different address.
The gmail app is better, and I filter out all the sort of shopping/newslettery mails that I will never want to read on my phone, but will want to read on the computer.

Also if you read the email in gmail on the computer, the notification disappears from your phone!

Only downside is when you eventually go into hotmail to read those emails, you have to manually mark as read ones that you already read from Gmail, but for the time and frustration saved its worth it.

Thanks jeremy_inc. Just tired out the Gmail App and you're right! As soon as I read a new email on my PC, seconds later the new mail notification on the phone disappears. I wish the Hotmail app could have this same feature! I'm very tempted to switch completely to Gmail now. Unless there's other apps out there that can synchronize new message notifications the same way as the Gmail app can?
