Help Hotmail notifications

I have my hotmail set up in email on my phone in exchange mode

I will get a notification there is mail , go in read the mail
delete the stuff I read, and then I will get another notification pop up that there is more mail, but there isn't any

if I go into the email program from the icon it will not clear the notification
if i go into the email from the notification, it clears and tells me their is no messages

same thing happens with the wife's hotmail setup on her fascinate

anyone else have this issue, and found a way to fix it?

I have my gmail and a pop account setup in email and they work fine
