Hotmail on HTC

I am having some problems with my HTC Sensation and hotmail account.

I have set-up my hotmail account on the HTC to receive the e-mails and all is working fine.
The problem comes when I delete e-mails from the phone. I then log on to my hotmail account on a PC and the e-mails are still there.
I have sync'ed the phone and e-mail account and does not help.
Is there a way that when I delete an e-mail from my phone it is deleted from my hotmail account as well?

If you are using the default HTC mail client, go to >Account Settings > Send & Receive Settings and then check "Delete mail on server".

I have that ticked and still not working.
Do I need to be logged on to Hotmail or something silly like that for the sync to work?
Is what I am trying to do actually possible to do with a hotmail account?

Go to your hotmail options, click on the sub-option called "POP and deleting downloaded messages". Choose "Do what my other program says-if it says to delete messages, then delete them".
Try it, might help, sorry if it doesnt.

I have that selected as well.
Do I need to be logged on to my hotmail account on my PC for the sync to work?
Has anyone got this to work as HTC say that some e-mail clients might not auto sync depending on their server settings.

Mine does work using the method described above, set to delete on server from my phone and the 'do what the other program says' bit in the Pop folder in hotmail...
