Actually yes i can wifi tether the f7 get an app from the playstore called jbtether, its for root users and activates mobile ap, as well get an app called wireless tether 2.0.7- look for the right tethering app, its green and not yellow as most.

1 activate jtether
2 activate wifi tether apk
3 accept connection!!!

And remember you have to activate jb wifi tether apk before activating the wifi tether 2.0.7 apk, after u install jb wifi tether it will be called jtether and it is a red android icon in the app draw, just click red droid to unlock ap, then open wifi tether 2.0.7 and activate ( be sure to activate access control, and accept any known devices connecting ) hope that helps alittle more

You're gonna need root if you want tether, heres the easy way to root and install clockworkmod recovery. ROOT & CWM

thanks for the reply!! Will check into this more when I have time.. could you tell me if there are any other benefits to rooting this phone other than to tether? Im kinda new to this and just want to know what the other benefits of rooting may/will give me..thanks again!

Gave the phone to my chick, but i tinker with it from time to time. Custom kernels increase speed, custom roms change looks and the phone as a whole, by rooting your device you are given right to fully customize it (get better speed, custom looks, better battery life etc,). Always be cautious and if u dnt understand something read read read. Take all the steps to stay safe. Get to know and understand cwm (clockworkmod) first, as it will be your best friend.

I rooted mine before activation in December & have used PdaNet from day 1, USB tether on my PCs & Bluetooth for my Galaxy Tab 2.

Download the app from here (make sure you are logged into google play):

then use these settings:

Device - Profile : Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)

Change SSID to something simple: tether

Wifi-driver reload 2: enabled

Make sure routing fix is: enabled

Then start tether.

After tether has started you should see "Other Network" in your list of wifi networks on the device you want to connect with. After starting a connection with "Other Network" it will ask you for the name of the network at which point you will enter the ssid name. In the example from above you would enter: tether.

voila wifi tether works.

ps make sure your connections optimizer is off or it will interfere with the app.
