Anyone know if Sprint is going to charge a fee (on top of the totally-not-for-4G $10 fee) for using the epic as a hotspot?

Do it for free. Just dl one of the apps from the market. Or root it and then use one of the other apps from the market.

I can use my moment as a hotspot. Just requires root and wireless tether. Dont know why you would pay 30 dollars to have sprint enable it when you can easily do it for free.

Can you USB tether without any additional charges and/or software? Or, do you need to use something like PDANet and if so, do you need to root in order to install PDANet?

So what apps from the Android Market can I download that will allow me to turn my Epic 4g into a wireless hotspot without having to root my phone or pay Sprint another $30/month?

You cannot use wireless tether without either paying Sprint for their hotspot feature or rooting. You can tether your device however without rooting. Download either PdaNet or EasyTether and follow the setup instructions.

Do you have a laptop without WIFI? That would be the only reason for using USB tethering.

Or AZLink.

Good question actually, I assume if USB tethered, your phone is not using battery. This is why I would just as soon use USB tethering (e.g. working on computer for long periods of time).
