my incredible cant seem to connect to my laptop and give a connection but my ipod connects to it just fine............what could be going on?

are you saying your ipod can tether to the incredible fine and get internet, but your laptop can not?
Does your laptop get an IP address (if so, what is it?) but can't get to the internet, or it does not connect at all?

it says its connected but i think there is no data being transfered. its just like at an idle. sometimes it says connected but it wont work n then sometimes wont connect at

What exactly are you trying to do? Since you mention it is something your Ipod does , it doesn't sound like you are trying to get internet access through your phone's data connection. Are you trying to establish an ad hoc connection and transfer files?
edited to add: upon rereading, I don't know whether you meant the ipod would connect to the phone or to the computer...

im using the phones hotspot to conenct my laptop to the net and an ipod but for some reason only the ipod connects fine not the laptop. and im not doing any file transfering.
