Help hotspot...wifi? (AT&T)

i would like to if there is any app that will allow me to make my note 3 (at&t) as a hotspot without begin rooted?

I have looked all over but cant seem to find anything?

i guess my i may not have ask the question correctly..........i would like to use my note as a wifi hotspot for my ipad. What app can i use that would allow me to do that without having to pay at&t for it?

You don't need any app. It's part of the OS. Go into Settings > Connections > Tethering and portable hotspot.

When you this I get this

"To enable mobile hotspot on this device, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611"

this is so you pay them again, which is why I asked about the app?

I think you would need to install pdanet /foxfi. If that even works for your phone.. Otherwise you may have to root and uncheck the entitlement flag and so on

OK this sounds like another instance when the US Note 3s are deliberately crippled as compared with the International version. I had no idea they were trying to monetize the hotspot function. Good grief.

On the International Note 3 you just turn it on.

Yea I think Verizon and att does it still...but I think if he did use Odin to flash a international variant then he would be good to go...if att didn't kill that feature too.
 
oh, ATT. i had a GoPhone that disabled tethering for me too. i use Verizon. all i do is go to settings-->More Networks-->Mobile hotspot (turn on) and it costs no additional charge. it's included on the plan.

I can also launch mobile hotspot via S-voice from the lockscreen which is faster.

I'm on AT&T and it works just fine that way for me.

What sort of plan do you have, that may be the real reason you get that message?

all that work until I turn it on the it comes up with the "to enable......" i have unlimited data, with At&t i've been with them since forever. But I guess i will call them tomorrow and find out why its not allowing me to.

I'm pretty sure that the plan you currently have does not have free wifi hotspot. According to their website the "Mobile Share or a DataPro 5GB data plan" have free wifi hotspot. I am guessing that you don't have either of those and so there will be an extra charge for that feature on your plan (if it is allowed at all).
 
Unlimited data almost always means no hotspot without paying extra for it


On the other hand - if you're paying for a max of 5 GB of data they don't really care how you choose to use it, so tether is usually included.
 
I have unlimited data as I have been with AT&T since it was cellular one. Looks like the only thing left to do is root the phone, let's hope it's as easy as jailbreaking....???

It depends on the phone, phones with unlockable bootloaders are best

If you have the kitkat update you won't be able to root it.
