Root Hotspot

Is the hotspot working with rooted phones? I poked around and saw at least one post where someone said it works using Wifi Tether for Root Users, but then some other people said they got an error 67 when they tried using the hotspot with a rooted phone. Does anybody have it working? What apps are you using? Should it work with any hotspot app? Thanks.

It works fine for me, using wifi tether for root users, might wanna do a prl swap and build prop tweaks to make it faster though

I've used both of these successfully now (I think I had to disable Droidwall or just allow all root applications):

Wifi Tether for Root Users
Barnacle Wifi Tether

Someone mentioned the following app, but I haven't tried it.

WiFi Tethering (OpenGarden, Inc.)

Hopoefully we can get a full HotSpot at some point via a ROM. The apps in the market are tethering apps, wich if you want to use it for a WiFi only table, it won't work. tethering is a "ad-hoc" wifi and tablet don't allow these type of internet connections. Must be a security thing.

My WIFI-only tablet can tether off of it. It's a Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus running CM9.

I do understand that some tablets don't have that ability or have that ability crippled. If I remember correctly, my tablet wouldn't connect to ad hoc running the stock Honeycomb firmware.

Asus Transformer running any ROM will not connect to a ad-hoc connection.

EDIT: I just got bluetooth DUN working using "FoxFi" bluetooth DUN on my OE, and "PdaNet Tablet" on my Nexus 7. You need to configure both, of course, but it works.

Woot-woot!
