How are the colors on the Droid 3's lcd screen?

I'm asking because some colors look really faded or washed out on my D3. Especially Yellow, then orange, and green.

I'm starting to wonder if I have a defective lcd screen.

Some people say that the screen looks fine.

The colors look especially bad in games like Angry Birds and Words with Friends, and in some images.

Is there a way to do a screenshot so I can post what I'm talking about?

It's hard to notice while playing 3D graphics games like NOVA or watching a movie.

I think the screen looks fine overall but the greens and yellows definitely look different from my Droid 1. I can post photos of both screens later if no one comes up with screenshots.

Posting a screenshot won't do any good. Posting a pic of your phone with the screen on "might". The best way to tell would be to go to a Verizon store that has a demo unit and compare. Do you have the brightness turned down or set to auto-dim?

Yeah, I guess you're right. I'll go to my local verizon store and check it out.

Sorry to bring up this old thread, but FYI:

Ever since I've put a screen protector on, the washed out colors don't bother me as much, it seems to have better contrast. For anyone else who has issues with the colors, try different screen protectors.

I went by a Verizon store yesterday to check out the D3 they had there as a display model - I have to say the screen looked beautiful, colors vibrant and brighter than my current Droid X. I don't know if this was just because they had a "good" one out on display or not, but I was blown away after reading how poor the pentile qHD displays were for the Atrix and X2. I liked the resolution and quality of what was shown - I did a quick comparison of Google Maps on both and the D3 just seemed nicer to me (and I do like the display of the X, BTW).

Just my $.02

I may end up with a D3 some time soon[er or later]

If you looked at an X2 you would have seen what we meant. The D3 isn't nearly as bad because it's a slightly smaller screen. The battery at the top on the DX2 looks like a checkerboard, where as on the D3 you have to look at it a bit more to see the pentile effect. The D3's isn't perfect, but I'll call it "acceptable" as compared to the X2. That's a strong word for me, btw, I don't simply mean "average".

I just went to the verizon store to compare the demo unit to mine and the colors are definitely different.

I talked to an associate, and he compared with me and he says they look the same. I thought he would say that. He wasn't a complete jerk about it, but I can tell he didn't want to deal with exchanging the phone.

It might sound like I'm being nitpicky or anal, but I can really tell a difference when they're side by side. The phone I have definitely does not look good when an app or picture has a lot of yellow, orange and red in it.

So now I'm trying to decide if I should pay the hefty $35 restocking fee, and hopefully get one that's good. I'm guessing that my chances of getting a better unit is good, considering that I don't see anyone posting problems with colors of their lcd screen.

I'm guessing if I take this up with Motorola, it would be more time and trouble than it's worth.

I wish I knew someone who works at verizon.

Any advice?

Thanks

It's a brand new phone. You should be satisfied with it. If you're not, I'd escalate it as high as possible until someone helps you out. If you did a side by side comparison and you say the colors are off on yours and not the demo unit, then there is something obviously wrong with one of them. They should look the same. I'd pull up a web page that has lots of the colors you say are off and then show the CS rep both.
