how are you liking your Lg motion because.....

I'm torn between the decision of buying Lg motion or the galaxy s3. Now both phones are great but they are different in some ways.

Lg motion is an amazing phone for it's price but what's holding me back is the screen size and resolution. I have the lg connect 4g and the screen and resolution is great and buying the motion would feel like taking steps back. But the price is great with the same processor as the s3.

Galaxy s3 is an all around great phone. Big screen, resolution, and it's just a great phone but some features of the galaxy s3 i don't really care for and the price is $500. It's great for watching videos with the screen and i like how it feels. So smooth when you touch the screen. And you can do more with the s3 with dev support.

Did i miss anything? Other than that i may get a new phone for the holidays but just not sure on what to get :/

If all else fails then i may just hold on to my lg connect. But what is the deal with the operating system like ice cream sandwich?

Thanks :)

I was playing with the S3 yesterday so smooth and screen is huge( i think a little to big for me, idk how i would put it in my pocket or on a belt case). I have the motion now and i wouldnt upgrade from this for just screen size. 500 is a big hit but if i were just starting metro or this was going to be my first smart phone i would definetly go for the S3. I had the connect before the motion(big upgrade), you can try to sell the connect for 200, so if you get the s3 it would be cheaper. ICS is great thats why im not really even stressing that there are no roms YET for the motion.

I like my Motion. Only time the screen size bothers me is when I'm texting and can't see all of the messages that were sent to me. This is my very first smartphone so I'm not a good person to give advice. I know if I had money to burn sure I would love to get the S3. :D

wait 2 weeks and get a Nexus 4 from google for $299 for the 8GB or $349 for the 16GB and take it to tmo ;)

If you already have the LG Connect I don't see why you'd buy the Motion other than for the sake of buying a new phone.

the motion is dramatically better than the connect is every aspect besides screen size.

plus you can sell the connect for enough money to buy the motion and even put a little money in your pocket.

For some people T-Mobile isn't necessarily a good provider where as Metro is in their area and the Nexus 4 has some significant issues that make it a no go for me, no sd card, non-removable battery.

If you can afford to throw down, go with the S3, if you're trying to do it on the cheap go with the Motion. You can argue about all the other things all you want, but the price is the biggest difference between the two so it all depends on what you feel you can afford.

Screen size, OK, I can understand that to a certain extent, but resolution? Mine plays HD movies perfectly fine. It's NOT the resolution at all, DPI is fine so please stop on about 'resolution', get it right (sorry, fed up with people putting a great phone down because of 'resolution').

with 16GB theres is plenty of space, the no sdcard thing is going to be coming to all devices. ;)

With GSM the non-removable battery isnt that big a deal as GSM kills cdma on battery life hands down. Now I like having both, but their not deal breakers for me.

Coverage I can understand and have to go with what works for ya. ;)

Watch the same movies etc on on a connect, esteem, etc, the Motions display doesnt even compare and you may be watching a HD flick, doesnt mean you're seeing it in HD. But that doesnt mean its a bad phone. I wouldnt by a locked device when they are other options avail thats not locked, ;)

I only bought this phone, besides the price v. performance, because my last LG was practically indestructible. I don't mind being locked to the stock ROM, ICS is pretty much already how I like it. I wouldn't buy another LG now knowing they'll all be locked down here on out.

SOLUTION

for the price of 500 + tax for a new samsung galaxy s3 from metro this is what I did

LG Motion 4g 150
Google Nexus 7 Tablet 199

Thats 350 + Tax i saved about 150 bucks and i can tether the tablet to the phone using 4g anywhere... Screen size on tablet is much bigger and tablet is better overall for android use than any phone... bought it for my girl she can carry the tablet in her purse and the phone in her pocket... imo a way better deal than 1 samsung galaxy s3 thats way overpriced the phone should be 299 or 349 at most if it was cheaper i would buy 1 myself

oh btw about locked LG Motion i dont care about it being locked as long as its rooted... imo stock 4.x android is superiour to most custom roms the market right now, back in the android 2.x stages the custom roms used to outperform stock but now its the other way around all u need is root

I'm satisfied with my rooted motion. Froze the bloatware with titanium. Stock works great, with dual 1.5s. (I have it set to 1026 max) The screen looks fine to me, but I have a tablet to watch videos and such. $500 is way too much for a phone, IMO.

it's amazing my lg motion score higher on quadrant standard than my friends Galaxy s3 and that rates processing power. and I'm not even rooted or overclock

Its more about choice n features than performance now, true, but improved performance can be had with custom roms. Not to mention get the asop theming back. Lord only knows why oems change it to white. Yuk lol

If you go from the Connect to this phone you are going to be disappointed. My Connect got stolen, and I was forced to buy this phone because I was not going to pay $250 more (as the Connect was not on sale any more). Honestly, I LOVE the size, I was a HUGE fan of the Optimus M for a LONG time because of the performance and size, however the resolution (yes the resolution) leaves MUCH to be desired. Honestly, most games look pretty crummy compared to the BEAUTIFUL screen on the Connect. If I am not mistaken, the Connect has the highest DPI screen of almost any mobile device (as it has the smallest size screen that has a resolution of 480x800), I do believe it even surpasses that of the Iphones (which up till now have held that record), and it does show, the Connect had the most gorgeous screen of any phone I have ever seen. IMO it looked even better than the S3s, just a little bit smaller (which I consider a good thing). Honestly, save your money, and wait for the next thing to come out, something with say the hardware similar to the S3 but with the size of the Connect. I wouldnt waste money "upgrading" from the Connect, especially since the Motion is not really an upgrade, just a slightly faster graphics chip.

Better than the iPhone and the s3? Wow. The s3 and iPhone screens must be really overrated.

I had the connect and while the screen is better it ain't THAT much better. the difference in quality is not all that significant. The difference in performance and capability is, in favor of the motion.

You have to root and ROM the connect for that phone to perform half as well as a motion does right out of the box. The only reason I rooted my motion was to have a functional ad blocker.

Being able to remove bloatware without root and charge your phone fully in less than 2 hours is worth the price of admission alone.

Phone lasts all day without turning anything off or using the stock energy saving feature. At least for me it does. Couldn't say the same for my connect. leaving 4G on raped the battery on that phone.

I do understand those who can't deal with a screen less than 4", but if you can reconcile that you got yourself a beast of a device for practically nothing.

This. You hit the nail right on the head there. I am planning to do the exact same thing by getting a Nexus 7 in addition to the LG Motion 4G. Having those two instead of the Galaxy S3 saves at least $100. $500 for the Galaxy S3 is just outrageous.

yeah if the s3 was a couple hundred bucks cheaper i wouldnt hesitate. but i havent put down the nexus 7 since i bought it. great tablet and im sposed to give it to my girl lol.

Been fooling with the nexus 7 i got it unlocked and rooted, im also able to CALL, TEXT & Video chat straight from the tablet using Google Voice, go figure!!! running android jellybean with the tegra 3 processor smoothest android device i ever used.

Well if i could sell my connect for $200 then i would definitely go for the gs3 or buy the gs3 now and sell the connect later.

I agree with playfulgod you should get the nexus 4 and have the best community you'll ever have with the best performance, software, etc..... if I knew that that phone was coming soon I would've waited a little especially since its $200 less than the galaxy s3...... that's a definite deal breaker you can't lose at all

awesome phone, the price is right, but a max of 16GB of non-expandable storage?....cant do it. my current video and music library wouldnt fit.

i dont see why they couldnt make an 8GB internal and provide an SD slot while still keeping the price as is.

8 gig is enough for me, idk how people have so much music or videos. Just watch YouTube or Netflix. For personal videos there's always the cloud. I'll rather get a very nice device for so cheap than get an expensive phone with contract just so I can put more music or videos into it lol. Its called a smart phone not media player, haha. Buy yourself a galaxy player.

And that's how nexus are, if u want an SD card than look at another phone. Idk why people complain about something which they know will most likely not change.
