How can I download a Google Document onto my Android without picking up my device?

Currently, if I want to have a Google Doc or Google Spreadsheet in my Google Drive made available offline on my Android device, I must pick up my Android, open the Drive app, and select a document or spreadsheet to download offline.

But I'd rather do things on my laptop. Without touching my Android device, is there a way I could remotely have a Google Doc downloaded onto my Android?

The only way I can think of would be to use an app such as AirDroid where you can manage your device wirelessly. Then you could choose your device as a place to save a document.

It's my use of AirDroid that made me want to do more remote work from my laptop. Your idea did come to mind, and I guess I could do that.

I may be misunderstanding your intent but I think Dropbox would do what you want. You can add it to your dropbox content on your laptop and it should then also be available (following sync) on your Android device. You'd have to open the app but it should be there already if given enough time to sync into your device's dropbox folder.

IowaBT, thanks for your reply. Basically, the next time I want to touch my Android is when I want to view the document.

If I pick up the Android device to sync, then I might as well do the same on the Google Drive app. The nice thing with AirDroid is that the next time I touch my device, the file/text is already on the Android.

UPDATE: Will try FolderSync soon and see if it offers anything more than AirDroid.

Using FolderSync, is there a way to make my "Android folder" my "Android desktop" (the place where I can put my fave apps and widgets).

Crashdamage, sorry, but I don't know how to put anything on my homescreen/desktop aside from apps/widgets that I drag from the other "screen". Can you tell I'm a newbie? (c:

It varies somewhat depending on your device so I can't give exact instructions. However, the device user guide will tell you. Usually something like 'long-press on a blank area of the home screen > add a shortcut > folder'.
