Help How can I quiet notifications??

phreerose

How can I quiet my text and email notifications without having to press the power button to turn the screen on and then drag the screen down to unlock?

Ultimately I'd to be able to hit the volume to silence the notification and it would also be great if the screen could wake-up automatically to notifications, then I just had to drag to unlock.

Any suggestions?

If you want to get text notifications that wake up your phone, you should give "GO SMS" a try. It has a pop up notification that will wake up your phone and you can open/read/reply directly from the pop up.

I haven't been able to figure out how to hit a button and quiet it, but if you lay it on its face when it rings it will quiet. What I did was go into my notification settings for the phone and lower the volume of my email and text notifications. Then in Handcent I can choose to make it vibrate or what-not. Handcent also has options for how to wake the screen. Alternately, if you're young you could change the notification sound to one of those frequencies that older people can't hear.

Since I wear mine on my hip, I'd like a "shut up button" function as well.
