Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe if you follow that guide you will have 2.2.1 with root access and custom recovery, not 2.2.2. Which I would imagine isn't so bad, unless you really want 2.2.2 rooted. Personally I'm just gonna stick with it until Velocity 1.2 which is 2.2.2.

But if you just want stock 2.2.2 rooted, there's a nandroid for that:

I don't know about the new updated version of that guide, but when I did it, the version I used took me to unrooted 2.1 and work its way up, but that might have changed. I would recommend hitting the link in my sig for the Ally IRC. There will be people there who can help you get 2.2.1. Just look for sora1995, he can help.

The way the root guide works 1st you downgrade to ZV6 to get fastboot then you flash stock rooted or velocity 1.1. You can use the guide regardless of what youre running.
