Help How can you rename Bluetooth devices?

Basically what the title says. Its the first phone I've ever had where I can't figure out how to do it!

I have to jump in out of Ford cars all day and I now have 8 'Ford Audio' connections. I don't know which one is which!

Can you do it on the phone? I always thought you could only rename the device you were on, not what you were connecting to?

I have 4 Blackberry Stereo Gateway devices (one in each room that has an audio system) and it takes forever figuring out which to connect to.

Don't you choose the name when pairing for the first time? I seem to remember that it gives you a 'default' but you can change it. Though I may be mis-rembering things and that's what Nokias do .....
