Did you buy it yourself or get it as a gift? Just wondering what stories everyone has.

I sold my Galaxy S2 and ipad 2 to raise the money, have since bought the ipad 4 as I missed the damn thing but the Note 2 is my baby :)
 
Finally got one to replace my water damaged Note 1 while websurfing in the bathtub back in October. AT&T store I hadn't been into before had a rep that told be about the "exception upgrade" where I could restart my contract and save about a $100 on a Note 2 and I had some christmas money from Santa so I went for it, but it was still an over $500 bill but it was either that, or pay Asurions $200 deductible and get a refurbished Note 1
 
I found mine discarded at the beach after it had been used by a family of 4 as a raft to return from holiday when they lost their cruise tickets.
 
Bought mine on launch day. Waited for about 30 min for a "customer service specialist" at the AT&T to get off their ass and earn their paycheck for a change. I was eligible for upgrade and bought mine for $300 on the spot. Later, found out that Amazon was selling it for $175. Contacted AT&T and they did a price match, of sorts, and I got credited $150 on my next monthly bill. After that, my Note 2 came out to around $160. Then I sold my unlocked iPhone 4 for $300 on eBay. Actually made a profit on this :D
