how do apps update?

i have only used my hero for the past week so i dont know how this works, but do the apps give notifications as to when we have to update, or is it automatic?

Hi Clockwork

You should simply receive a notification saying updates available , another option is to simply go to the Android Market and click "My Downloads" , you will then see a page of all your apps.

If their are updates available they will be up the top of the list with yellow writing on the right saying update available. Click the app with the update text on it and then select "update". It should then start downloading and your all done & up to date!

Speaking of Android Market updates on the Hero, I have never gotten one of these notifications. Of course, the My Downloads part of the market always shows when an update is available for the specific applications.

I use the HTC Hero on AT&T in the USA. Does anyone else not receive the Android Market notification? It could be a carrier-specific thing.

never received an update but my downloads had a few needing an update.
i am on O2 UK but on the custom MoDaCo ROM so i dont know if that may be an issue... no problem really just need to make sure to check the my downloads ever week or so...

I check my downloads every few hours ... you never know when the latest and greatest Update will be published ...
