How do I convert DVD files to my Evo?

Glenn54

OK, so I'm ready to start toying around with watching DVD movies on my Evo. I have Clone DVD software on my desktop that I've been using for years but wasn't sure if I can transfer a movie file from it to my Evo. Not looking for anything Blu-Ray or 3D (for now). Just a basic DVD movie file. Thanks for any input:)

as long as its a supported movie format... you can just throw it on your sd and us a file explorer to fine it and watch it

If you have it ripped to your computer you can use handbrake to convert it to a smaller more supported format.

Thanks for the quick reply guys. Went to my desktop DVD movie downloaded folder (Video_TS) and dragged the folder over to my Evo SD card. Took about 10 to 12 minutes. I thought I would be able to open it thru the "Play Movies" apps installed. Which apps do I need to recover it?

OK, I'm getting closer:rolleyes:. ES file explorer locates the "Video_TS" file on my SD card. When I select the file, it has 29 sub-files inside of it. These must be small chapters of the movie because selecting some of them gives me about 1 second of play time and others just read "sorry, this video cannot be played.

that means that clone dvd is trash... try something else

No, it means that he's trying to play raw dvd, . vob files which no phone supports. You have to use something like Handbrake to convert the movie to a supported format like mpg.
Yep, that was the problem. I converted it over with Skysoft DVD Ripper and then loaded it onto my SD drive. Working like a charm now:D. Thanks for all the input. I'll hit everyone up later for 3D downloading once I upgrade my stock SD card to something bigger. Thanks again :)

to be honest I used to like watching movies on the phone when i moved from the OV (tiny screen) to the Triumph (huge clear screen) but i never loaded any files on SD.

i used netflix with wifi.

then it faded and I stopped watching movies on the phone. wasnt fun anymore.

the EVO 3D totally changed that, I try to ONLY watch 3d movies on it now, I try to get a new one every week.

if its formatted correctly in qhd or 720, it looks REALLY nice on this screen.

the only downside is holding it, but i watch while in bed with headphones and i have a little stand that holds the screen in the right position.

if your going to watch movies on a phone, THIS is the way to do it. try loading a SBS 3d movie to it.

Yeah use Handbrake, its free and works the best anyways. I have a few I tried recently with Handbrake and they worked like a charm, Miracle & Harold & Kuma :)

Where do you get the movies in 3D? Thanks

Man, the Standard DVD's I loaded on my Evo look outstanding! Almost like they're upscaled to 1080P :) Looking to get a larger SD card to hold more movies and music. Was wondering which card is recommended. Also would adding a larger card slow the phone down any?

I'm using a SanDisk 64 gb class 10 and am quite happy with it, definitely doesn't slow the phone down.
