Root how do i delete my info???

im tring to remove my phone number and msid on my prevail. Since im trying to sell it on ebay. it has the CyanogenMod 7.1.0 and when i enter *MSL* i dont got the debug mode anymore. Any Other ideas too get rid of my info from the phone?

Unfortunately Cyanogenmod doesn't support the hidden menu right now, so the only options that you have is to either Odin by using your computer or flash a zip while in recovery back to stock, or use a non Cyanogen ROM. HOWEVER, if you choose to use another ROM, you will need to flash your cache back to rfs by using a zip found in Hroark's Odin package if the competing ROM doesn't support ext 4.

I know this thread is kinda old but I'm trying to do the same...remove my phone number, user name, and etc.

I flashed everything back to stock but my phone number, user name and etc still on it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Until I came to this thread it didn't hit me that someone who buys my old prevail (or any boost phone really) can get all my information off the phone!

My phone number, my msid, my shared password (not so much since its the same across the board), my aaa password... Good thing I haven't sold any of my phones yet.

But to answer your question. You have to know your msl. You have to be in an epst compatible rom. At the moment any rom but cm7.

Open the dialer and enter ##yourmsl#. Then you'll be asked for your msl again. Enter it and press OK. Once pressed you'll be presented at the Service Menu. You want to click/touch Edit. You'll be presented with your phone number and the keyboard will be at the bottom. You can edit out your phone number and then press the Enter button on the keypad (last button on the lower right hand corner).

Then you'll be presented with the MSID. Edit it in the same fashion and press the Enter button again. All zeros are not going to be compatible. Once you get into the Service Menu again press/touch Done.

The phone will reboot. If the phone didn't reboot by itself you didn't do something right.

Please note. The phone number and the MSID and the MEID of the phones have to match in order for someone to "steal" your service. Scrambling one, the phone number or the MSID is enough to derail stealing service attempts.

The phone number and the MSID in the Service Menu have to be 10 digits each. In order to put in "dummy" information you can just put in (areacode)555(any4digits). Or just use your imagination!

Good luck.

Kolosus, is that really OK to do without it messing with your current service and/or the connection to boost and stuff?

If the phone you're doing this to is currently in service then you'll break your service. You will not be able to make or receive calls. The instructions were written out for someone who has changed service to a different phone and wanted to sell their old phone without their phone number on it.

When I was running ShabbyMod, I went in to the hidden menu and did a master reset . This wiped my phone so as I had to have Boost reactivate it . I'm not positive but I think it probably wiped ALL data pertaining to me also .

Wetbiker7. You are correct. You can do a master reset and not have to do it "manually" like I spelled out. The master reset zeros out the phone's number and msid requiring the phone to "call home" and try ota activation every time it is turned on (until the network reprograms the phone). I didn't learn that till after.

Anyone know of a way to do this and keep CM7? Will I have to flash to CTMod or other rom access the hidden menu do a master reset and then CWM back to CM7?

You're probably gonna need to flash or restore a copy of CTMod . That's the only way that I know of at the moment .

Actually that doesn't work with the current release of CTMod either it doesn't have the hidden menu. I went back to 2.3 because I remember for sure using it on there. I reset everything and then went into CWM reset everything from there and flashed CM7 fresh now though I don't know if it will work for a new user because it is no longer prompting the activation process.

That's correct . The new CTMod 3.1.2 is a hybrid . To access the FULL hidden menu , you will need CTMod 2.5 or lower . ;)
