Help How do I Delete Suggested Email Addresses?

Hello,

Using the standard Android email widget. When I begin typing an email address that I use often, it "suggests" an email address that I typed wrong one time. Is there a way to purge or delete the incorrect email address from the suggested list? It's not a huge deal but the incorrect address is always at the top and some times I hit that one being in a hurry or whatever. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello knight1fox3.

I'd clear cache and data in the email utility you're using, then reboot and sync. Make sure the wrong address is not in your Google/Gmail contacts.

Alas, there is no option to 'clear data' in the stock email app.

Thanks for the replies guys. The "clear data" option is grayed out for the mail app when I go into "manage applications". I read in another forum that 1Tap Cleaner is supposed to be able to clear cache/history but the number of downloads and reviews aren't great. Afraid that might also erase some other things I want to keep.

Force closing the app usually ungreys the clear data button.
Thanks for the reply. For whatever reason, force closing the app doesn't seem to ungrey the clear data button. I wonder if I can stop the mail app from loading on start-up temporarily and see if the clear data button is ungreyed.

I had the same issue. What I have noticed is that after several weeks of using the correct email instead of the typo that the "typo" version doesn't show up. Good luck

Thanks for the reply Leica. Since there doesn't appear to be any other sure fire solution, I'll just wait it out and hope that it stops showing up if I don't select it.

Hi all,

There's an application called Contact Remover. I use it to remove the "typo" emails in my email suggested list. When you open this application, you will see the list of all contacts (even the "typo" email addresses). Some how in this application, the check box (on the right side of each contact) doesn't work on my phone (I'm using Xperia Arc). Only the "Select All" button works. But NEVER use this button when you see all your contacts displayed, except if you want to WIPE all your contacts. I bypass this thing by using the "Search" button first to search only for the "typo" email address, and then when only this "typo" email address is displayed on the list, I will use the "Select All" button to check the check box (of the "typo" only), and then "Delete".
Hope this will help.

Thanks for the reply aqtl. I tried downloading and installing the app. you recommended. Unfortunately for me (HTC Thunderbolt), the "typo" email address doesn't show up in the contacts listed or when I search for it. I tried adding the "typo" email address as a contact and then removing it with Contact Remover however, it still "recommends" that address when I begin typing it. I just wish there was a simple way to just "clear history" so that it wouldn't show up.
