How do I disable mobile mode (internet)?

Basically what the title asks. How do I open up websites without having them shown as mobile site? I looked everywhere in the browser settingsbut nowhere can I find the option to turn mobile sites off, even in the regular settings.

Did you search the forum? Have seen it somewhere but can't remember where, think it may be in the hints and tips sticky. You type something like agent:about into the browser bar to get you that option.

Hi Amster

1. Open default Internet browser
2. In the address bar, enter about:useragent
3. Select Desktop

The setting goes back to default the next time you launch the browser, however, you may find other browsers in the Market that handle this feature better.

[+] someone bet me to it

or use dolphin browser it is better because it allow you to disable mobile mode permanately

Using the normal browser with the upto date software this guide will work perfectly for you. You don't need to use useragent which will only work for that one login this will work permanently.

Excuse my ignorance here, but what are the benefits/drawbacks of using desktop mode over mobile?

Thanks. Well, I suppose I should update them but... how the heck do I update this phone? Sorry, I'm just used to my Desire HD which has an update button somewhere in system info.

EDIT: I tried it with KIES. With my phone connected to the PC program, it says that my version cannot be upgraded.

I don't have this option in my browser, I want to keep the original browser if I can, is there a way of updating it?
Edit, I also have the latest OS non Rooted.

So I cannot figure out how to update my phone, as that may be neccessary in order to get the latest internet browser options (to turn off mobile sites).

I tried it with Kies but it says my version cannot be updated...

I have the same problem. It was really annoying so I installed Opera.

Pretty sure all you need to do is update and not root. Mine isn't rooted it's just updated bother via Kies and the Software updates (about phone, Check for updates). Think it was that one which opened up that option.

saying that however I also get the option on my HTC Wildfire, it's in a different place but again you should see something like "Mobile view".

I don't find this option neither and my phone is up to date.

So guys, is the mobile view and Desktop view now available in browser settings after upgrading to Android version 2.3.4?

Hmmm thats a shame, seems wierd that some people have it in their stock browser and most don't. Maybe its an 'area' related issue.

I can say it's in some UK handsets. Could it be network firmware?

Having used boat browser and Dolphin HD I think they're better TBH and they both offer desktop, android and iphone modes if thats of any consolation
