Excuse my ignorance here, but what are the benefits/drawbacks of using desktop mode over mobile?
I don't have this option in my browser, I want to keep the original browser if I can, is there a way of updating it?Using the normal browser with the upto date software this guide will work perfectly for you. You don't need to use useragent which will only work for that one login this will work permanently.
I have the same problem. It was really annoying so I installed Opera. So I cannot figure out how to update my phone, as that may be neccessary in order to get the latest internet browser options (to turn off mobile sites).
I tried it with Kies but it says my version cannot be updated...

Edit, I also have the latest OS non Rooted.
I don't find this option neither and my phone is up to date.Pretty sure all you need to do is update and not root. Mine isn't rooted it's just updated bother via Kies and the Software updates (about phone, Check for updates). Think it was that one which opened up that option.
saying that however I also get the option on my HTC Wildfire, it's in a different place but again you should see something like "Mobile view".
So guys, is the mobile view and Desktop view now available in browser settings after upgrading to Android version 2.3.4?Using the normal browser with the upto date software this guide will work perfectly for you. Hmmm thats a shame, seems wierd that some people have it in their stock browser and most don't. Maybe its an 'area' related issue.
