Help How do I enable wifi hotspot

isvirtual

Newbie
When I click the portable hotspot under settings, I get an error telling me to call virgin mobile. How did you get wifi hotspot functioning

I tried feeding quarters to my phone but that didn't work. I looked at the vim website but nowhere to pay.

Let me re-ask the question...

I know it cost $15/mo for wifi tethering. What I don't yet know is WHERE and how to pay it! If you have done thissuccessfully, please point me in the right direction.

I forgot to mention foxfi supposly enables tether without the data package I would try it its free on google play store

I logged onto VMUSA website today. They have a link on the right to enable the mobile hotspot.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.

Odds are you'll have to sideload foxfi since I think our phones show up as incompatible probably. Also HTC blocks wifi hotspots unless through the carrier, unless you're rooted obviously. Foxfi will Bluetooth tether fine though. And there is an app you can get for tablets through the market to access Bluetooth tethering.

I noticed that if you click on the link on the website, it gives you a choice to permanently enable the hotspot or to only enable it for your plan current month. While it seems somewhat of a waste to only get the remainder of your plan month (especially if you go halfway through the month and then need to use your phone as a hotspot), I can see an advantage when you get a message that you are close to your data limit and then switching the hotspot on so you get the extra 1 GB of data.

or if youre about to go on a trip and just want it for a little while.

Android wifi tether works, pick generic ics, clamp and reroute. MUST BE ROOTED.
Don't Pick Evo 3D in options

Tried the app and chose the settings stated and my computer obtains an IP but still is unable to access the internet. I was using the built in wifi hotspot just fine for free up until recently and now the HTC EVO V 4G mobile hotspot app that comes with the phone now shuts down my data connection when started.

Any other ideas to avoid paying an extra $15/month? Ill pay if i have to but rather not.
